From 12-Hour Corporate Days to Building a Legacy that Matters
Hi! I'm Joanna Blanding.
I went from grinding 12-hour corporate days to launching 5 businesses—and watching all five fail spectacularly.
I tried freelancing as a digital marketer, only to realize I had simply become employed by my clients. This wasn't the entrepreneurship I was envisioning.
So I pivoted to building a team and launched The Collective Asia and The Smart Concierge in 2018.
I ran them like any traditional agency: paid salaries, billed by project, and worked incredibly hard. Then, the unimaginable happened. My second child, just 7 months old, passed away from illness. I had lost precious time with him while I was grinding away.
That tragedy changed everything.
I made a commitment that I'll make my faith and family the priority, no matter what.
I discovered a completely different approach that doesn't involve traditional employment or endless toiling. This new model has allowed me to work around my family's schedule, from anywhere in the world, earn enough to give generously, and provide sustainable income for others. While prioritizing faith and family, God made a way for me to create the impact I've always had in my heart.
In the last seven years, my businesses have paid out over US$820,000 to freelancers and small creative agencies, while our company and community have channelled more than US$500,000 into charitable causes. The profitability of these two agencies has allowed me to invest in building Wealth & Legacy Builders–my coaching brand!
